Gabriela López Pérez
Member of the Board of Directors of Grupo Onyx
Ms. Gabriela López is a member of the Board of Directors of Grupo Onyx, a consortium of Guatemalan companies which was founded in 1967 when her father, engineer Mario López Estrada, began operations of the group with the development and construction of popular housing projects and rural roads. The business group currently has a diversified portfolio of direct investments in renewable energy generation, distribution of consumer products, digital services, and commercial and industrial real estate development in Guatemala and Paraguay. Gabriela López is also part of the investment committee of the family’s liquid portfolio.
She has actively participated in the social responsibility activities of the corporate group, which have been carried out through the Mario López Estrada Foundation and other institutions to which the group has belonged. More than $50 million has been invested to date, including in health, education, transparency, and women’s empowerment programs, positively impacting the lives of thousands of women and children in the most vulnerable parts of Guatemala.
She has also been actively involved in other non-profit social organizations, including the Ayúdame a Vivir Foundation (AYUVI), which contributes to the financing of the National Hospital for Children with Cancer. She served as alternate president and alternate vice president of the organization from 2018 to 2021. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Mayan Cultural and Natural Heritage Foundation (PACUNAM), which is committed to the protection, preservation, and rescue of the cultural and natural heritage in the Maya Biosphere Reserve. PACUNAM projects include the construction of schools in Mayan indigenous communities.
Ms. López has worked with her mother, Ana María Pérez Bosch de López, as a service volunteer with the Catholic Church, which supports thousands of minors who live in the vicinity of Guatemala’s municipal garbage dump.
She holds a degree in Marketing from Rafael Landívar University in Guatemala.
