Introduction
The HORUS ENERGY Photovoltaic Plant started its operations in the year 2015, becoming the largest plant of its type in Guatemala. With its 345,000 solar panels that generate 110 MW of energy, in an area of 274 hectares, HORUS ENERGY is capable of producing approximately 200 GWh per year of completely clean and renewable energy. This is enough to supply an estimated 60,000 homes in Guatemala.
Since 2015, HORUS ENERGY has implemented community support programs focused on the education of children in the community close to the plant. One of the main programs with the most impact in the communities is the Energy in your Studies program. Below you can see what the program entails and what HORUS ENERGY has achieved since the program began.
Energy in your Studies
An Education Social Program created in 2017 which delivers school supplies for children registered in the public schools in the area of influence of the plant. The general objectives of the plan are: The general objectives of the plan are:
- Benefit the families of the municipality of Chiquimulilla and its economy.
- Teach people about photovoltaic energy and its benefits.
- Inform people about the advantages of renewable energy, and its positive impact.
- Maintain a close relationship with the communities.
- Avoid absenteeism and school drop out.
HORUS ENERGY also contributes as follows with the communities that benefit:
- Motivating children to go to school, by having new and high quality school supplies.
- Supporting the family economy, given that HORUS ENERGY donates 100% of the school supplies so that families can focus their resources on other family needs. Contents of Bags by Level.
